1. A timely reflection on Liverpool and our lives

   At a time when COVID 19 has made people fearful, isolated or alone, Jeff Youngs new book, Ghost Town, offers not only a fascinating read but also a reflection on all those things that are important to us, our families, friends and communities. Its a deeply felt and beautifully written journey through Jeffs Liverpool childhood, the adult writer stalking Liverpool alone or with friends, searching for a past lost, regained, remembered so viscerally that the reader feels intimately connected to the child Jeff longing to leave the hospital where hes had his tonsils removed or to the older man out walking with writer friend, Horatio Clare, in search of de Quincey in Everton.

   This year LJMUs Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Team and Women Academics Network are reaching out to all faculties/areas, to find out what YOU are doing to mark International Women's Day 2021?

3. Subject specific Saturday clubs encourage expression and creativity in Merseyside teenagers

   LJMU has launched subject specific Saturday clubs to raise the aspirations of young people in Merseyside.

4. Last Coffee and Connections of 2019

   Friday 6th December will be the last Coffee and Connections of 2019 and will take place from 11am at Redmonds Building. Everyone is invited.

5. LJMU launches University Funded Diversity and Inclusion Scheme

   LJMU is providing grants to academic staff, students, and professional services staff, to work on research across the university related to Diversity and Inclusion.

6. REF 2029 resources and workshops

   Resources and briefing sessions are being made available to researchers interested in developing case studies for REF 2029.

7. Presenting the past to the public

   Research at LJMU is working on ways of presenting the past and creating content for historic sites and museums across Ireland and the rest of the globe.

8. Critically Thinking About Race, Religion and Belief/Non Belief

   LJMU invited speakers from different backgrounds to discuss their views on the issues that are still apparent in today’s society. The conference, Critically Thinking About Race, Religion and Belief/Non Belief was presented to a packed lecture theatre of academics, students and professionals.

9. UK Malaysia University Consortium host 80 students at inaugural conference

   LJMU as the Consortium Secretariat played a leading role in organising the five-day event.

10. LJMU Cycling Club ride Liverpool to Paris distance in 24-hour fundraiser

    LJMU Cycling Club took part in a non-stop 24-hour ride last week, raising over £200 for the British Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal.
