1. The Doctoral Academy Conference 2019 Celebrates PGR Activity and Research

   The conference theme of “Community” highlighted PhD, Prof Doc and MPhil Students’ research and activities, both in terms of academic study and voluntary work.

2. Let’s Talk About Disability Workshop (Virtual) - Tips For Supporting Staff/Students With Disabilities & Long-Term Health Conditions Including Mental Health

   This is an opportunity for LJMU/JMSU Managers, Programme Leaders and Personal Tutors (those directly responsible for staff/students) to participate in a half day (three hour) virtual, Lets Talk About Disability Workshop in order to gain tips for supporting staff/students with disabilities & long-term health conditions including mental health.

3. Pandemics and public health: have we found our new normal? - Conan Leavey and Graeme Mitchell, Public Health Institute, LJMU

   It was only a relatively short time ago - in March this year - that the World Health Organisation declared Covid-19 a pandemic. We know now that it is likely to be many, many months before the UK pronounces its outbreak over; and certainly years before it is over globally.

4. Art and Science Exchange

   On Tuesday 27th & Wednesday 28th August 2019, the MA Art in Science programme at Liverpool School of Art and Design hosted an Art & Science Exchange workshop with members of the Biochemical Society. The exchange was held at the John Lennon Art and Design Building, in the Public Exhibition Space and X-Gallery amongst the MA Art in Science student's end of programme postgraduate exhibition, which showcases the outcomes of their three month research projects. These projects served as a basis for investigation of specific art-science interactions, and were supported by open discussions, hands on activities and a Liverpool LASER talk.

   Hear six quick-fire presentations from LJMU academics as they showcase their innovative research connected to our local communities.

6. Astronomical Day celebrating National Care Leavers Week.

   In celebration of National Care Leavers Week LJMU welcomed 40 looked after pupils from 10 schools across the North West Region.

7. Lol delivers prestigious Cambridge lecture

   Professor Lol Burke from LJMU’s School of Justice Studies has shared his insights into probation and rehabilitation at a prestigious lecture at the University of Cambridge.

8. Briefing sessions for professorship and readership conferment

   Colleagues who wish to apply to the LJMU professorship and readership conferment process for 2023/24 can now book a place on our briefing sessions.

9. Come and cheer on Team LJMU at the 2024 Lord Mayor's Dragon Boat Race

   LJMU are the main sponsor of this years’ event and three staff teams will compete on Sunday 12 May.
