  1. Barry Groombridge interview – Elder Dempster

    Barry Groombridge joined Elder Dempster Lines aged 16. Barry’s first voyage was from London to the United States, via West Africa. The voyage lasted nine months.   4. Dr Carl Langan-Evans

    As a lad from Liverpool, Carl is similar to so many of those from the northwest region that stay and study here in Liverpool with LJMU. He has undertaken all of his academic studies here with us, and is an expert in the field of making weight in combat sports.

    International relations and politics are a diverse department with a range of research expertise, including in US democracy, cultural politics, sports mega-events, nationalism and devolution, and non-western theories of IR.

  6. Aldham Robarts

    Aldham Robarts, an Honorary Fellow, trustee and passionate supporter of the university. Two out of LJMU’s three library spaces are named after Aldham and his wife Avril who generously made donations towards the building of both key student spaces after the incorporation of the university in the early ’90s.

    Liverpudlian entertainer and comic, recognised by LJMU in 2014 with an Honorary Fellowship and a proud supporter of the university and our students.
