1. Metro Mayor becomes first LJMU Alumni Ambassador Fellow

   The Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, Steve Rotheram, has become the first Alumni Ambassador Fellow of Liverpool John Moores University.

2. MA Short Film Festival 2023 returns 24 to 31 March

   The festival returns for its third edition, featuring 42 films from across the globe that showcase the work of the best and brightest emerging student filmmakers.

   For the past eight years students from the LJMU BA Education and BA Early Childhood Studies programmes have had the opportunity to undertake international placements thanks to a partnership with Srinakharinwirot University in Bangkok, Thailand.

   Liverpool Business School recently hosted innovators from 10 countries in the first European Symposium for Sustainability in Business Education.

5. Sports Journalism Student wins prestigious NCTJ Award

   MA Sports Journalism Student, Jack Kinsella has won the ‘Best Student Project’ at the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) Awards for Excellence.

6. Students gain insight into world of international boxing

   Students from the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences, Liverpool Screen School and Liverpool Business School gained real-world insight into professional boxing and PR with a campus visit from worldwide boxing promoters Matchroom and boxer Peter McGrail.

7. Policing students become 'nighttime guardians' for safer streets in Merseyside

   The development of the ‘guardian project’ will see LJMU student volunteers be trained alongside street pastors to provide support, to those who need it, in Liverpool’s night-time economy, such as helping people get home or providing emotional support.

8. One day conference to shine expert insight on the history of the Battle of the Atlantic

   The Centre for Port and Maritime History is to host the event in association with the Battle of the Atlantic Memorial Trust, considering the history and legacies of the battle 80 years on.

9. Criminology students visit Slovenia for international crime and harm reduction discussions

   Students and staff from the Criminology Department, School of Justice Studies recently spent a week in Ljubljana, Slovenia to discuss crime and harm reduction with a range of governmental and non-governmental organisations.
