1. Civil engineers visit site of Italian bridge collapse

   ASPIRING civil engineers from Liverpool John Moores are visiting the site of the Genoa bridge disaster.

2. LJMU receives £1.3million for new STFC data science training centre

   Liverpool John Moores University, in partnership with the University of Liverpool, are set to host a new £1.3million Centre for Doctoral Training providing comprehensive postgraduate training in data intensive science.

3. Art and Science Exchange

   On Tuesday 27th & Wednesday 28th August 2019, the MA Art in Science programme at Liverpool School of Art and Design hosted an Art & Science Exchange workshop with members of the Biochemical Society. The exchange was held at the John Lennon Art and Design Building, in the Public Exhibition Space and X-Gallery amongst the MA Art in Science student's end of programme postgraduate exhibition, which showcases the outcomes of their three month research projects. These projects served as a basis for investigation of specific art-science interactions, and were supported by open discussions, hands on activities and a Liverpool LASER talk.

   We are delighted to announce the return of our successful heritage walks around Liverpool.

5. Faculty of Health sets out its ambitions

   Offering an outstanding student experience, carrying out world-leading research and working with partners to tackle health inequalities are the focus for our Faculty of Health. The faculty hosted a relaunch event this week to showcase its state-of-the-art new facilities and set out its ambitions for the coming years.

   LJMU continues to impact the quality of police training in England and Wales with a new partnership to co-deliver a Graduate Diploma in Professional Policing Practice.

9. Drones to the rescue: wildlife park footage will help save endangered animals

   Scientists at LJMU are capturing the thermal profiles of animals at a local wildlife park in order to help researchers around the world classify and monitor endangered species in the wild.

10. Lecturer’s new book examines security at sports mega-events amid the pandemic

    International Relations and Politics with Sociology Lecturer, Dr Jan Ludvigsen, shared insights from his book this week with the LJMU community ahead of its release on Friday 8 April.
