1. National Student Survey success for LJMU

   LJMU has significantly improved its performance in the National Student Survey (NSS).

2. Update: LJMU Induction Week and Freshers 2022

   Monday 19 September will be a Bank Holiday for all students

3. Honour Based Abuse, Female Genital Mutilation and Forced Marriage conference held in partnership with Savera UK 

   LJMU equality and diversity team worked in partnership with SaveraUK to host an inspiring HBA, FGM and FM event in November 2019.

4. Family judge for Cheshire and Merseyside hosts first LAC public debate event

   Her Honour Judge Margaret de Haas QC hosted the first public debate held by LJMU’s Legal Advice Centre, which focused on the legal rights of grandparents.

5. Screen School student hailed at international film festival

   A Screen School student has won first prize at the 2019 Pesaro Film Festival. Taking place in Pesaro, Italy, the festival recognises the talents of established and emerging filmmakers, and confers awards covering a range of areas, including a category for university students.

6. Students visit textiles and life conference

   MA Fashion Innovation and Realisation students: Joshua Marriott, Macarena Morilla Dominguez and Courtney Hammond presented research posters based on their MA proposals.

7. Graduation: Honorary Awards in Maritime and Girlguiding

   Maritime connections and raising the aspirations of women lie behind LJMU’s Winter 2019 Honorary Awards.

8. Alumnus wins coveted poetry prize

   We’re thrilled to learn that one of our Creative Writing graduates, Callan Waldron-Hall, was recently recognised for his outstanding writing at the Poetry Business New Poets Prize.

9. Student Spotlight: Abbie Romano

   The representations of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) roles is improving, but there’s work to be done. As of 2018, WISE Campaign (Women into Science and Engineering) announced that the UK is on track to have one million women working in the field by 2020. These statistics are encouraging, and demonstrate an improvement in opportunities shown to young women who pursue the career path.
