  1. Research Centre for Brain and Behaviour

    Within the Research Centre for Brain and Behaviour we are involved in research which looks at perception, attention, emotion, learning and memory, sensory and motor processes, and includes animal models of neurobehavioral research. We investigate cognitive and brain mechanisms in psychologically and neurologically intact animals and humans, and the disruption of these processes caused by drugs, brain damage, ageing or atypical development.

  2. Pete Dolan

    Pete is the Outreach Manager at LJMU, responsible for building relationships with schools and colleges and for delivering the university’s sustained widening access initiatives, targeting under-represented learners and disadvantaged communities. In 2023 he celebrated 25 years of working at LJMU.

  3. Brain and Behaviour Research Group

    In the Brain and Behaviour Research Group within RISES, we study human motor behaviour from the neural level through to perception and cognition. Our two main areas of research are sensorimotor neuroscience and expert performance and learning.

  4. Irene Mabel Marsh 1875 - 1938

    One of our pioneers, she started a revolution in physical education with a ground-breaking curriculum that still lives on at LJMU today.

    The Research Unit for Financial Inclusion is recognised as a leader in credit union research. We undertake research into issues central to the development of credit union, co-operatives and social enterprise and to the future of low and moderate-income consumer finance.

    The Institute of Art and Technology focuses on the following themes: contemporary art, 3D digital art, the uses of art, exhibitions and curatorship, as well as design discourse and practice.
