3. Microplastics ‘abundant’ in remote polar seas

   There are similar concentrations of microplastic pollution on the seabed in Antarctica as in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean, scientists have found.

4. Transgender Awareness Workshop 

   LJMU's Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Team are proud to be working in partnership with Subject Matter Expert; GenderSpace and are pleased to offer LJMU/JMSU Staff the opportunity to participate in a virtual, half day (three hour) Transgender Awareness Workshop.

5. Coffee and Croissant, Breakfast and Networking

   Research and Innovation Services (RIS) will be holding an informal networking breakfast event, Coffee and Croissant, at Byrom Street, MTC Social Zone on Thursday 4th April from 8.15am – 9.30am.

6. Support for care experienced students to be enhanced beyond graduation

   A £50,000 donation will be used to help end the ‘care cliff’ for LJMU students as they finish their studies.

   Professor Lol Burke from LJMU’s School of Justice Studies has shared his insights into probation and rehabilitation at a prestigious lecture at the University of Cambridge.

8. Celebrating success at LJMU's Unitemps Awards 2024

   Students, staff, and local businesses from across LJMU were celebrated at the Unitemps Awards Ceremony held on Wednesday 8 May 2024. The event, hosted at the Student Life Building, honoured individuals for their contributions to work opportunities and collaboration with Unitemps.

9. Connections over Croissants

   Research and Innovation Services (RIS) will be holding an informal networking breakfast event, Coffee and Croissant, at Byrom Street, LIVE Lab in the Peter Jost Building on Thursday 4th April from 8.15am – 9.30am.

10. Astro-ecology: Counting orangutans using star-spotting technology

    LJMU, WWF and HUTAN came together to examine better ways of detecting the great apes in the Bornean forest canopy, by using drones fitted with thermal-imaging cameras.
