1. Honorary Fellow Professor Roger Webster

   Liverpool John Moores University awards Honorary Fellowship to Professor Roger Webster at Liverpool Cathedral on Thursday 13 July 2017.

2. Sexual Violence Awareness Week

   Throughout Sexual Violence Awareness Week (Monday 4th – Sunday 10th February), a new team of staff from Student Advice and Wellbeing Services were out and about across the University to talk to students and staff about the impact sexual violence and harassment has on individuals and communities

3. ARI creates simulation of the Universe with realistic galaxies

   An international team of astronomers, including Dr Rob Crain from the LJMU Astrophysics Research Institute (ARI), have developed a simulation of the Universe in which realistic galaxies are created. Astronomers can now use the results to study the development of galaxies from almost 14 billion years ago until now.

4. Health and Safety policy updates

   A number of Health and Safety policies have been amended and approved by the Health and Safety Committee.

5. LJMU Climate Research Institute

   Staff are invited to attend a second workshop focussed on the proposed LJMU Climate Research Institute. It follows the successful design sprint session held in December, in which colleagues with research interests in the area met to begin scoping out the planned institute.

6. LJMU appoints new Pro-Vice-Chancellor

   Liverpool John Moores University has appointed a new Pro-Vice-Chancellor for External Engagement and Partnerships Dr Aileen Jones, who is currently Executive Director of Investment and Delivery at the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, will take up post at the university in September.

7. School of Art and Design receives RIBA funding

   RIBA has awarded funding to LJMU's School of Art and Design for innovative research into building design for sufferers of dementia.
