1. LJMU and LCR collaboration creates 44 apprentices for autism charity

   LJMU has collaborated with LCR to transfer £132,000 of unspent Apprenticeship Levy to Autism Initiatives, funding 44 new apprentice care workers for the charity.

3. LJMU receives Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence and National Teaching Fellowship

   LJMU is one of 15 teams to win the Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) and an LJMU academic has also been awarded one of 54 National Teaching Fellows (NTF). Dr Philip Denton, Principal Lecturer at the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, is the recipient of the NTF and the paramedic team at LJMU’s Schools of Nursing and Allied Health received the CATE.

4. Special Collections and Archives on the BBC

   The Library's 19th century periodicals collection will be featured in an episode of Celebrity Antiques Road Trip on Thursday 24th January. Presenter Martel Maxwell and expert James Braxton talked to Professor Brian Maidment before heading over to the School of Art & Design to be sketched by two graphic design students.

   LJMU Computer Science students attended the Department’s second annual Christmas Social Event on 12th December 2018

6. New student complaints and appeals forms

   Student Complaints Forms and Appeals Forms are now available on the My LJMU Portal.

7. A giant interstellar bubble being grown in the Andromeda Galaxy

   An international team of astrophysicists have uncovered an enormous bubble current being ‘blown’ by the regular eruptions from a binary star system within the Andromeda Galaxy.

8. Take a quick survey to raise money for a local charity!

   The National Student Survey (NSS) launches this week for final year undergraduates. If you’re a final year student, you can help LJMU raise money for a local charity simply by taking a short survey.

9. Inquiry offers Truth Project sessions to students

   The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse is inviting students to come forward to take part in its Truth Project at seven universities across the country, including LJMU.

10. Networking Breakfast at Exchange Station

    Research and Innovation Services (RIS) will be holding an informal networking breakfast event, Coffee and Croissant, at Exchange Station on Thursday 7th February from 8.15am - 9.30am.
