1. Thinking about how to spend the summer?

   As the assessment period draws to a close, for most of our students this month and teaching finishes for the academic year, here are four ways to spend your summer.

2. REF 2021 Consideration for Individual Circumstances

   As part of the Universitys commitment to supporting equality and diversity in the forthcoming Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021), we have put in place safe and supportive structures for eligible academic staff to declare information about any equality-related circumstances that may have affected their ability to research productively during the assessment period (1 January 2014 31 December 2020).

3. We interview the ISOC society during Islamophobia Awareness Month.

   Julia Daer, EDI Advisor and Ambar Ennis, VP Community and Wellbeing (JMSU) caught up with Khayyam Butt, President of the JMSU Islamic Society (ISOC), during Islamophobia Awareness Month.

4. Disability History Month: What's happening at LJMU and support available

   Disability History Month runs between 16 November and 16 December 2023 and it is an opportunity to reflect on the past and create positive change for the present and the future.

5. February is LGBT+ History Month

   This month marks LGBT+ History Month 2022, a chance to shine a light on the overlooked and complicated history of all of the identities and communities under the LGBT+ umbrella .

6. Fuelling the Lionesses: how research is changing nutrition practice and culture within the women’s game

   Two recent studies, focused specifically on elite female players, conducted by LJMU's Research Institute of Sports and Exercise Sciences (RISES), are helping the national the team to better understand the nutritional requirements of their female players.

8. LJMU Marks National Inclusion Week (2020)

   National Inclusion Week runs from the 28th Sep - 4th Oct 2020 and gives you the opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to inclusion in and outside of the LJMU community.

9. LJMU Religion & Belief Workshops “Understanding religious diversity of our students and staff community”

   LJMUs Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Team, are proud to be working in partnership with Zia Chaudhry (Director of LJMU Foundation for Citizenship), Zane Abdo (LJMU Muslim Adviser/Chaplin), Rabbi Natan Fagleman (LJMU Jewish Chaplain), Hannah Padfield (LJMU Anglican Chaplain), Father Neil Ritchie (LJMU Catholic Chapain) and other external consultants in order to offer LJMU Staff (& Students*), the opportunity to participate in a bespoke, half day Religion & Belief workshop.

10. Start-up funding opportunity for new student businesses

    The LJMU Start-up Hub is excited to announce that the new Bathgate Boost award is now open! The £500 award is designed to support students who can demonstrate their business idea. Sitting alongside this funding is a package of support from the Start-up Hub team built around developing your start-up and skills as an entrepreneur. The award is open to all current LJMU students and new alumni who graduated from LJMU during 2023.
