   John is a PhD student with the School of Education. He is also ex-forces, having served with the RAF Police before leaving the military and beginning his own higher education journey.    Mayor of Liverpool, Joanne Anderson, is a courageous leader and an inspiration to so many as the first female Mayor of the city and the first Black woman to be directly elected as a Mayor in the UK. As a graduate and current MBA student at LJMU, Joanne is like so many other mature students that pass through our doors, seeing the benefit of further study - both for herself and for Liverpool.
