   Our staff networks have been integral in progressing certain policies for LJMU staff, including on maternity leave and menopause.

3. Project Harpocrates scholarship for police staff seeking a career in covert investigations and intelligence

   The police staff, drawn from Nottinghamshire Police, West Midlands Police and British Transport Police, secured the scholarship opportunity under an initiative known as Project Harpocrates. The project seeks to support law enforcement efforts to recruit and retain staff in the highly specialist area of covert operations and specialist intelligence.  Whilst the project was open to all officers one of the specific aims of the project is to increase the representation of  Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic staff (BAME)  in this challenging and exciting area of investigation and intelligence management.

5. Drones to the rescue: wildlife park footage will help save endangered animals

   Scientists at LJMU are capturing the thermal profiles of animals at a local wildlife park in order to help researchers around the world classify and monitor endangered species in the wild.

6. Honour Based Abuse, Female Genital Mutilation and Forced Marriage conference held in partnership with Savera UK 

   LJMU equality and diversity team worked in partnership with SaveraUK to host an inspiring HBA, FGM and FM event in November 2019.

7. Prospective Postgraduate Students - Information Sessions

   The next session is 1.30-3.30pm, Tuesday 3rd September 2024 on Teams, lead by Dr Scott Foster and Dr Komang Ralebitso Senior. An in person event to be held on campus, will take place 3pm-5.30pm on Wednesday 18th September 2024.

8. LJMU PE, School Sport and Physical Activity Network Event

   This face-to-face event is for primary and secondary teachers, Sport/PE students, trainee teachers and sports coaches working in schools. The event will: Disseminate the research activity and projects across LJMU PESSPA network Reflect upon the findings and recommendations of the Ofsted subject PE report series (Sept 2023) Celebrate collaborative activities/events.

9. Equality, diversity and inclusion in journalism teaching conference

   The journalism department is holding a free one-day conference on EDI in Journalism education on June 26th. Although the conference is geared towards Journalism education, the conference is open to educators from other subject areas who will be welcome to share their research and best practice as well as benefit from transferable, practical ideas around embedding EDI in teaching, learning and assessment and creating an inclusive environment for students.
