   We are working to reassure everyone at LJMU about the measures we are putting in place to protect all of our staff and students.

2. Homeless: the human cost of austerity

   LJMU’s Public Health Institute and Library Services hosted an art exhibition to raise awareness of issues faced by homeless people in the city

3. Student Spotlight: Abbie Romano

   The representations of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) roles is improving, but there’s work to be done. As of 2018, WISE Campaign (Women into Science and Engineering) announced that the UK is on track to have one million women working in the field by 2020. These statistics are encouraging, and demonstrate an improvement in opportunities shown to young women who pursue the career path.

   Each week we will be highlighting either an individual or group of students from LJMU in our new feature, Student Spotlight. It will let people know about your LJMU journey, LJMU life, your experiences in Liverpool and the good work that happens around the university

5. LJMU Chancellor welcomes scholars, Honorary Fellows and alumni to third Middle Temple celebration

   Over 110 LJMU Scholars, Honorary fellows and alumni came together at a special event in London’s historic Middle Temple last night, hosted by LJMU Chancellor and Honorary Fellow, Sir Brian Leveson.

6. LJMU Wellbeing Week: Guided Walk

   Our free, one hour guided walks continue this month as part of LJMU Wellbeing Week.

7. Lecturer at LJMU scoops prestigious honour for Design and Technology education

   Matt McLain from LJMU’s School of Education has been honoured for his achievements in teacher training at the Design and Technology Association Excellence Awards held last month. The Design and Technology teachers of tomorrow may have a special someone to thank for inspiring them in their careers, if a special accolade awarded to an LJMU lecturer is anything to go by.

8. Happy Diwali!

   Diwali is an annual five-day festival of lights celebrated during the Hindu month of Kartika. In the spirit of celebration, let us all get involved with the brilliant array of events occurring during this period in Liverpool, in neighbouring cities and even virtually. Happy Diwali everyone!
