1. Liverpool and Togo to forge vital links

   The Ambassador of Togo visited LJMU recently to establish academic, research and business links between LJMU and Liverpool city region and the Universities and businesses in Togo.

   Could you spare a few minutes to complete a survey about your studies? The UK Engagement Survey (UKES) is a national survey asking students to comment on your engagement with different kinds of learning activities.

3. Summer and graduate placement opportunities

   A great range of 200-hour part-time (20 hours per week over 10 weeks) and five-month full-time, paid student summer placements are currently available exclusively to LJMU students.

   LJMU has been nominated for three Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards (THELMAs).

5. Gravitational wave science used to search for catastrophic explosion

   Researchers at the Astrophysics Research Institute were among the first to use new gravitational wave science, ahead of the recent announcement by the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO) that they had made the first direct detection of gravitational waves.

6. Praise for policing student who goes above and beyond

   A first year policing student has gone above and beyond during her first week at LJMU by helping a total stranger on a night out.

8. Calling all young artists – North West schools to benefit from new University-backed arts initiative

   Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) has become official partner with local arts project dot-art Schools to inspire the region’s next generation of Turners and Emins.

9. In memoriam Dr Alistair Beere

   Dr Alistair Beere passed away at the end of August and his funeral arrangements have been shared by his family.
