1. New HEFCE funding to upskill Liverpool City Region’s engineering industry

   LJMU has been awarded a share of £6.1 million by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) to develop new and enhanced higher education courses.

2. Discovery Internships for level 5 and 6 students open for applications

   The second round of paid Discovery Internships this semester are open until midnight on Sunday 17 December 2023. Interviews will take place before the end of January 2024 and the internships will begin from early February 2024 (start dates may vary for each role).

   LJMU students and graduates attended a virtual careers event to give them advice on their future careers.

4. Business School experts to work on project exploring value of culture and heritage to society

   Dr Rafaela Ganga and Dr Steve Nolan of Liverpool Business School will act a co-investigators on a new research project looking to measure the value of culture and heritage to people in Liverpool.

6. First appointment for new Jockey Nutrition and Welfare PhD

   A PhD co-funded by the British Horseracing Authority and LJMU will commence in October with a full-time three year role for Daniel Martin from the Professional Jockeys Association’s Nutrition Team.

   Liverpool John Moores University’s ‘Face Lab’ has taken centre stage at a national event showcasing universities’ role in driving growth in the creative economy.

8. University welcomes national drive for social mobility

   Liverpool John Moores University has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing social mobility, as Universities UK (UUK) publishes a report by the Social Mobility Taskforce, which makes national recommendations for boosting access to higher education.

9. Developing the diverse workforce of the future for engineering and technology

   LJMU hosted events with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers exploring diversity and inclusion in engineering and technology skills.
