1. Start-up Hub

   The Start-up Hub helps students and graduates start a business. We offer funding, business advice and training. We also have networking events and workshops.

2. Volunteering and Summer Opportunities Fair - 9 February, 12-3pm, Student Life Building

   At our Volunteering and Summer Opportunities Fair, we'll have charities, businesses and organisations from across the UK and overseas from various sectors. Some are looking for volunteers, others are offering paid summer opportunities, including Go Global schemes like Camp America.

5. Global Internship Programme – Work abroad

   For summer 2019, LJMU will be sending students on 2 month internships in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Melbourne, Australia. The scheme covers flights, accommodation, insurance, work experience, networking events and might include trips or social activities too!

7. Pre departure advice - Go abroad

   Not all of our students are experienced travellers and the Study Abroad Team are keen to support as best we can. We host a number of compulsory information sessions that students are required to attend before embarking on their experience of lifetime.    John Martin was a catering officer with Elder Dempster Lines. Read his account of his experiences with the shipping company.

10. Barry Fowler interview – Elder Dempster

    Barry Fowler joined King Edward the Seventh Nautical College, London in May 1952. Barry spent four years as an apprentice and eventually rose to the position of captain at Elder Dempster Lines.
