The Research Unit for Financial Inclusion is recognised as a leader in credit union research. We undertake research into issues central to the development of credit union, co-operatives and social enterprise and to the future of low and moderate-income consumer finance.
Within the Nutrition and Health Research Group, we deliver meaningful research which examines the relationships between food, nutrition and health. Dr Amy Whitehead initially used and developed ‘Think Aloud’ as part of her PhD, looking at how Golfers make decisions. This led her to develop a course which supports sports coaches development, which was initially funded by LJMU, and delivered to a number of coaches at St Helens Rugby League Club.

Mariama undertakes outreach work for the university, working with schools across the country to establish meaningful connections that help young students to realise their academic and personal potential. Inspired by her early life experiences, moving from Africa to Northern Ireland, and then the opportunities afforded to her by LJMU during her own studies, she is determined to help others and act as a role model.
Moni Akinsanya is Associate Director of Diversity and Inclusion and has worked at LJMU for over 16 years. She has led on many race and gender equality projects at the university and driven meaningful change, making sure the voices of underrepresented groups are heard.
Rian Bailey-Weir is a driven and accomplished LJMU alumni who plays a vital role in our Graduate Futures project, providing expertise and opportunities for our amazing graduates to seamlessly find work after they complete their studies.
