1. Olympus partnership to train more professionals in cancer screening

   Liverpool John Moores University is set to train more people in diagnosing cancer thanks to a partnership with global optics firm Olympus.

2. Care experienced girls and young women still at risk of unnecessary criminalisation

   Girls and women who have been through the care system should be diverted away from custodial sentences into community alternatives wherever possible, says a new report published today (Weds 4 May 2022). And the study adds that moves to prevent the criminalisation of girls in care need to be high on the agenda for change.

   As part of Pensions Awareness Week, Merseyside Pension Fund will be running a series of live online events which aim to increase pensions awareness among active members of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).

5. REF 2021 Consideration for Individual Circumstances

   As part of the Universitys commitment to supporting equality and diversity in the forthcoming Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021), we have put in place safe and supportive structures for eligible academic staff to declare information about any equality-related circumstances that may have affected their ability to research productively during the assessment period (1 January 2014 31 December 2020).

7. Researchers launch 'world's most advanced nutritional' app

   PhD student David Dunne has worked with Harlequins, QPR and the Ryder Cup team to maximise the physical potential of athletes. Together with ex-PhD Sam Impey, David has raised £450k to launch training companion app Hexis, claimed to be the world's most intelligent nutrition system. He spoke to us to explain more.
