1. World AIDS Day - 1st December 2019

   World AIDS Day takes place on 1st December each year.

2. Estranged Students Solidarity Week

   Monday 25th - Friday 29th November is Estranged Students Solidarity Week, a national campaign to raise awareness of the issues affecting students who are studying in higher education without the support of a family network.

3. Pride in Liverpool 2019 - Saturday 27th July

   Join staff, students and friends for the annual Pride March on Saturday 27th July

4. Tithebarn Street roadworks (from 3 June 2019)

   Please be aware that major roadworks will begin on Tithebarn Street on Monday 3 June.

5. Alumnus wins coveted poetry prize

   We’re thrilled to learn that one of our Creative Writing graduates, Callan Waldron-Hall, was recently recognised for his outstanding writing at the Poetry Business New Poets Prize.

6. Student Spotlight: Abbie Romano

   The representations of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) roles is improving, but there’s work to be done. As of 2018, WISE Campaign (Women into Science and Engineering) announced that the UK is on track to have one million women working in the field by 2020. These statistics are encouraging, and demonstrate an improvement in opportunities shown to young women who pursue the career path.

8. Celebrating Black History Month

   For this year's Black History Month celebrations, LJMU is involved in a range of events.

9. LJMU and LCR collaboration creates 44 apprentices for autism charity

   LJMU has collaborated with LCR to transfer £132,000 of unspent Apprenticeship Levy to Autism Initiatives, funding 44 new apprentice care workers for the charity.

10. Students given unique insight into production of BBC Radio Merseyside’s longest running programme

    LJMU's MA Mass Communications students went behind the scenes at BBC Radio Merseyside for a studio tour, followed by an 'in conversation' event with Mike Brocken, presenter of Folkscene, Radio Merseyside's longest running programme.
