  1. LGBTQI+ Flags

    In 1978 gay rights activist Gilbert Baker created the first Pride flag with the goal of it being a symbol for everyone. Since then many new flags were created to represent all communities within the LGBTQI+ community.

  2. School of Education facilities

    The School of Education is based at the Mount Pleasant campus. Trainee teachers will work within real school environments as well as within subject-specific facilities where required.

  3. Natural Curriculum – School of Education

    Working in partnership with Mersey Forest, LJMU have developed the Natural Curriculum, which is already gaining a strong local and regional reputation. We run a professional practice hub for local schools and have successfully delivered Department for Education/Natural England funded income-generating programmes for teachers.

    We have a wide range of green initiatives in place to raise awareness of the importance of sustainability and directly reduce our carbon footprint.

  6. Supporting our city and communities

    LJMU is a key partner in working towards the Liverpool City Region’s target to be net zero carbon by 2040. We work with a wide range of other organisations on initiatives to tackle climate change and protect our environment.

    Our arrangements for environmental management, sustainability and climate change fit within the university’s governance structures – which have staff and student representation.

    At LJMU we have a need to act sustainably to ensure that our community is resilient, healthy and happy and that we can continue to deliver excellent, world-class education and innovation to future generations. By embedding sustainability in the core of all of our processes we are playing our part in tackling climate change and minimising consequential damage to the planet.
