2. Give out Wellbeing Journals to all your students in your Personal Tutor meetings

   Copies of the new 2022-23 Wellbeing Journal are now available for all students, and academic staff are being encouraged to hand them out at their first personal tutor meetings with students.

   As the exam period gets underway, we understand it can be a stressful time for students but also for our staff, so were reminding everyone of the free 24/7 support services available at LJMU.

4. Domestic abuse: better safeguarding can aid prosecution

   New research suggests domestic abuse victims are better served by schemes which prioritise safeguarding over prosecution.

5. Project Harpocrates scholarship for police staff seeking a career in covert investigations and intelligence

   The police staff, drawn from Nottinghamshire Police, West Midlands Police and British Transport Police, secured the scholarship opportunity under an initiative known as Project Harpocrates. The project seeks to support law enforcement efforts to recruit and retain staff in the highly specialist area of covert operations and specialist intelligence.  Whilst the project was open to all officers one of the specific aims of the project is to increase the representation of  Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic staff (BAME)  in this challenging and exciting area of investigation and intelligence management.

6. LJMU hosts low carbon homes summit

   LJMUs Faculty of Engineering and Technology plays host to the major players in the housing and construction industry on January 19-21.

7. Care experienced girls and young women still at risk of unnecessary criminalisation

   Girls and women who have been through the care system should be diverted away from custodial sentences into community alternatives wherever possible, says a new report published today (Weds 4 May 2022). And the study adds that moves to prevent the criminalisation of girls in care need to be high on the agenda for change.

   Friday 6th December will be the last Coffee and Connections of 2019 and will take place from 11am at Redmonds Building. Everyone is invited.
