  1. Social behaviour, ecology and conservation

    Our interest lies in the evolution of animal societies and the interactions that occur within these societies and their link to emotion, cognition and communication. We primarily study primates (including humans) but also other species including birds.   2. Dr Áine Mac Dermott

    Áine won the Individual Teaching Excellence Award at our Teaching Excellence Awards held in our Bicentenary year, recognising how she has provided amazing real-world learning experiences for students across the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, all while being an active supporter of women in STEM.

  3. Research in the School of Biological and Environmental Sciences

    The School of Biological and Environmental Sciences conduct interdisciplinary and collaborative research with a number of large organisations across the globe within the areas of genetics, neurobiology, anthropology, medical entomology, ecology, evolution, and the environment.

  4. Natural Curriculum – School of Education

    Working in partnership with Mersey Forest, LJMU have developed the Natural Curriculum, which is already gaining a strong local and regional reputation. We run a professional practice hub for local schools and have successfully delivered Department for Education/Natural England funded income-generating programmes for teachers.
