4. Alpine F1 performance coach and jet lag doctoral researcher visits LJMU ahead of new Formula 1 season

   Sport and Exercise Science Professional Doctorate student, Tom Clark, visited LJMU last week in preparation for the start of the new Formula 1 season and to discuss his jet lag research. Tom has spent the past four years working with the Alpine F1 team and specifically their driver Esteban Ocon.

5. Researchers reveal new findings into greatest scientific fraud

   A new analysis of the famous Piltdown Man forgeries, conducted by LJMU researchers, points the finger of suspicion even more firmly at their discoverer, Charles Dawson. The Piltdown Man scandal is arguably the greatest scientific fraud ever perpetrated in the UK, with fake fossils being claimed as evidence of our earliest ancestor.

6. LJMU welcomes former Chief Constable as new lecturer in policing and leadership

   LJMU has welcomed former Lancashire Constabulary Chief Constable Steve Finnigan CBE to teach the next generation of police leaders, at the Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing Studies.

7. New library services website launched

   The LJMU Library website has had a major refresh over summer and has launched this week ready for the new academic year.

8. Discovery of a New Galaxy in Cosmic Neighbourhood

   Astronomers, including Professor Maurizio Salaris from the Astrophysics Research Institute at Liverpool John Moores University, used the Hubble Space Telescope to photograph the globular star cluster NGC 6752 (located 13,000 light-years away in our Milky Way's halo).

   Following a successful pilot scheme, from next week all staff will be able to access a brand new system to take ownership of their development and objective.
