   Google Garage is supporting LJMUs Global Entrepreneurship Week (16 22 November) with a series of superb and state-of-the-art business training for students and staff.

   At a time when COVID 19 has made people fearful, isolated or alone, Jeff Youngs new book, Ghost Town, offers not only a fascinating read but also a reflection on all those things that are important to us, our families, friends and communities. Its a deeply felt and beautifully written journey through Jeffs Liverpool childhood, the adult writer stalking Liverpool alone or with friends, searching for a past lost, regained, remembered so viscerally that the reader feels intimately connected to the child Jeff longing to leave the hospital where hes had his tonsils removed or to the older man out walking with writer friend, Horatio Clare, in search of de Quincey in Everton.

3. Professorship and Readership Conferment 2022: Call for submissions

   Each year applications are invited for the conferment of Professorships and Readerships and the process for 2022 is now open.

4. Transgender Remembrance Day: Gender identity, trans-awareness and policing

   Our EDI team caught up with Christian Owens, founder of GenderSpace, to discuss gender identity, trans- awareness and policing for Transgender Day of Remembrance.

5. Christmas closure and support services over the festive break

   The university will close at 5pm on Thursday 23 December and reopen at 9am on Tuesday 4 January. The Student Life Building will be open 24/7 throughout the festive break including on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

6. Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence in Research and Knowledge Exchange

   Nominations for the Vice-Chancellors Awards for Excellence in Research and Knowledge Exchange 2021 are now open.

7. Another successful year for the online summer course “Sustainability and Employability”

   Over 60 students successfully completed the online summer course Sustainability and Employability: Understanding Sustainability Issues and Getting Ready for the Job Market.

8. International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) – 17th May 2021

   International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) aims to raise awareness of discrimination and violence against people within the LGBTIQ+ community, to drive positive change.
