1. MA Screen School Alumni celebrates feature film on Amazon Prime

   J1S, a feature film by LJMU MA Screenwriting graduate, Jay Cunningham, 44, has been released on Amazon Prime.

2. Menopause cafes to take place in person throughout 2023

   To keep conversations moving forward around the menopause, dates in January, April, July and October 2023 have been set for the next four menopause cafes.

4. LJMU pledges to secure successful student futures at House of Commons

   22 universities, including Liverpool John Moores University and JMSU have pledged to develop a Student Futures Manifesto joint action between a university and its students to improve the student experience.

5. Researching the kingfisher’s iconic hydrodynamic design

   Renowned for their noiseless dive, the kingfisher’s iconic beak-shape has inspired the design of high speed bullet trains. Now scientists have tested beak-shape among some of the birds’ 114 species found world-wide, to assess which shape is the most hydrodynamic.

6. LJMU wins funding for 200 new Degree Apprenticeships under Government initiative

   LJMU will be opening its doors to an extra 200 new employer-supported Degree Apprentices in September 2017, after being only one of 18 universities to secure part of a multimillion pound Government fund.

7. LJMU scientist wins silver award in Parliament

   Dr Claire Burke, an Astro-ecologist at LJMU’s Astrophysics Research Institute, was awarded the silver prize for physical sciences in Parliament at STEM for BRITAIN.

8. LJMU celebrates South Asian and East/Southeast Asian Heritage Months

   In celebration of South Asian Heritage Month (July 18 to August 17) and East and Southeast Asian Heritage Month (September), LJMU held an event on campus.

9. Thousands of LJMU graduates celebrated at March ceremonies

   More than 2,400 students officially graduated this week across eight stunning ceremonies at Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral, the first graduations of LJMU’s Bicentenary year.
