Liverpool LASER Talks: Pockets of Joy
Join us to hear about two Liverpool-based projects that use music interventions in health.
This event has already taken place.Did you know music can significantly improve health and wellbeing at any age? Research now supports its powerful impact, including for those facing life's challenges and medical conditions. In this Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous (LASER) Talks we bring together musicians, neuroscientists, and healthcare practitioners whose work offers insight into the power of music participation, composition and performance to enhance people’s lives.
Join us to hear about two Liverpool-based projects that use music interventions in health. Speakers from the Applied Music Research Lab at University of Liverpool and RISE Music Education CiC will talk about using music composition with individuals living with dementia and their caregivers to make a tangible difference. Speakers from the Liverpool Philharmonic Music and Health Programme and its partners at the Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust will tell us how they use music to improve the health and wellbeing of patients with neurological and neurosurgical conditions.
The talks will be accompanied by live performances of music created during these projects, offering a unique glimpse into the creative process and its profound effects, before a moderated panel conversation and Q&A.
