At LJMU, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to access higher education and outreach events aim to inspire students and support them in making informed decisions about their future.
We offer a range of engaging activities designed to inspire students when it comes to their university options. These include subject taster sessions, campus visits and free residentials. These interactions provide hands-on experiences to help students make the right choice for them.

Our on campus events are open to current Sixth Form and College students, unless stated otherwise, and offer a great way to explore your subject of interest, tour our fantastic facilities and engage with academic staff and current students.

Liverpool School of Art and Design Degree Show 2025
Thursday 22 May to Friday 6 June 2025
We would like to welcome sixth form students to come and celebrate the achievements of our final year Liverpool School of Art and Design students at our upcoming Degree Show. The show celebrates the work of our final year students across:
- Architecture
- Fashion Design and Communication
- Fine Art
- Graphic Design and Illustration
- History of Art and Museum Studies
- Interior Architecture
Sixth Form students are individually welcome to visit the degree show independently without booking, between Thursday 22 May and Friday 6 June from 9am to 4pm (excluding bank holidays).
If sixth forms wish to arrange a group visit, please email us with your preferred date and time, and the number of students to attend.
Liverpool School of Art and Design – workshops for Years 9 - 12 students

Workshops are ideally suited to GCSE and A-Level Art students.

In this taster, you choose what to read. Whether you're into non-fiction, literary analysis, or deep dives into Shakespeare, we’ll help you unlock fresh ways of interpreting texts and thinking like a literature student.

Psychology
Friday 6, Monday 9, Thursday 12 and Monday 23 June, 10am to 2pm
At this event, students will experience how psychologists study the mind and human behaviour. You will explore key psychological phenomena such as The Primacy Effect, The Simon Effect, levels of aspiration, and The Flanker Effect — while learning how these principles apply to real-world situations.

Media, Culture, Communication
Tuesday 10 June 2025, 10am to 3pm
Is Public Service Broadcasting still worth it — or is it time to pull the plug?
BBC, ITV, Channel 4, are they still speaking to your generation, or stuck in the past? In this lively session with Dr. Steve Spittle, you’ll take a critical look at how traditional TV is fighting to stay relevant in a streaming world and help imagine the kind of content that you would actually watch.
Why does the news feel boring, sad… or just not for you?
If the news makes you tune out or switch off, you’re not alone. In this interactive session with Dr. Rachel Broady, you’ll explore why Gen Alpha and Gen Z often find news stressful or pointless — and work on ideas for making it better, fairer, and more engaging. Your perspective could help shape the future of journalism.

Criminal Justice

Step into the world of justice and find out what it's really like to study crime, punishment and society at university level. From debating how to make justice fairer, to learning about cutting-edge research in areas like drug policy and social harm, this session gives you a hands-on introduction to a subject that shapes lives and communities.

How to Succeed in the Media and Creative Industries Careers Event
Tuesday 24 June 2025, 9.30am to 2.30pm
This annual event will be of interest to anyone who wishes to study or have a career in the Media in technical, creative or production roles. Meet and network with our media industry guest speakers which in the past have included representatives from ITVX, BBC Radio Merseyside, Liverpool Film Office and Lime Studios. Also includes a Film Studies taster lecture. This year's speakers will be announced soon.

Psychology University Teaching Experience
Get a feel for university teaching with the School of Psychology
Tuesday 24 June 2025, 10am to 1pm
Students will experience a taste of university-level teaching in our School of Psychology. The session, ideal for anybody interested in studying psychology at university includes mini-lectures, flipped learning, seminars, and lab practicals — offering a hands-on look at different teaching styles.
