Former Assistant Managing Director at Liverpool Daily Post & Echo Ltd, Mr Coligan was heavily involved in industrial relations and production changes during the 1980s.
For five years he was Corporate Development Manager at Trinity's head office, before returning to Liverpool as Managing Director in 1992 focusing on the continuing development of two of the most successful regional daily newspapers in Britain; the Daily Post and the Echo.
Leo Coligan is an Executive Director on the main board of Trinity International Holdings plc, and is responsible for Trinity's North West operations (daily and weekly newspapers in Merseyside and North Wales, Chester Cronicle series and Huddersfield Daily Examiner).
In addition to his involvement of the Trinity International main board, he is also a board member of Mersey Partnership and Channel One Liverpool; sits on the Advisory Panel for the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Society; and is a member of the Operational Review Committee for the Roy Castle Cause for Hope Foundation.
On a personal note, Mr Coligan is a graduate of Durham University; he is married with two children and one of his main interests is golf - he was the Captain of the West Lancashire Golf Club in 1995.
Leo Coligan accepted an honorary fellowship on behalf of the Liverpool Daily Post & Echo at the 1998 Graduation Ceremonies.
October 1999 - Leo Coligan took up new position with parent company Trinity & Mirror Group in Chester as Director, Publishing UK & Ireland. He is replaced as MD at the Liverpool Daily Post and Echo by Stephen Parker, former editor of the Newcastel Chronicle and Journal. (see cutting in the Trinity file).
