Support for Devolution Deal for Liverpool City Region

LJMU is keen to support the Government and the Liverpool City region Devolution Deal. Overall we see this as a positive step forward for the City Region.

As a modern civic University we are a central part of the culture and infrastructure of Liverpool and the region, and we have a significant presence within the local economy and society. As such we have important responsibilities in relation to these key areas.

Additionally, as a key driver of the Northern Powerhouse, the University is keen to work closely with the Combined Authority and to support partners to move effectively and smoothly to new governance arrangements.

LJMU has a mature portfolio of programmes already making impact and driving economic growth and jobs. One current example is the Manufacturing and Technology Centre which is a transforming force for UK business innovation through a new Business Launch Centre MTC based in Merseyside. This encourages partnerships that take the ideas coming out of academia and develop them into commercial reality within industry.
