LJMU announces academic and research partnership with Rock n' Roll Marathon series
LJMU is proud to be the academic and research partner of the 2016 Rock ‘n’ Roll Liverpool Marathon which takes place this weekend; 28th and 29th May.
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series attracts runners of all abilities for a series of races in the city along with the atmosphere of a music festival, with runners raising money for charities along the way.
With the historic waterfront providing the back drop for the start and finish of the half and full marathons, the weekend event also offers live music at every mile, a world-class Health and Fitness Expo with expert guidance from a team of LJMU sports scientists among others, and culminates with a finish line concert.
This new and unique academic partnership between LJMU the Rock ‘n’ Roll series, is not only a catalyst for research and academic collaborations and an opportunity for student and staff engagement across a wide portfolio of activities, but it promotes and supports the ethos around health and well-being and the encouragement of physical activity, something that LJMU keenly endorses.
LJMU’s Sports Science team will be at the Expo on Saturday 28th so people have a chance to get some specialist sports advice. The Expo is at the ACC Convention Centre, Kings Dock. On Friday from 1pm to 8pm, and all day Saturday, 9:30am to 5:30pm.
The weekend covers four distances:
