Graduation review Tuesday 10 July
The Liverpool Business School and the School of Law graduated today, while Dr Steve Garnett was given an Honorary Fellowship in recognition of outstanding achievement in the use of technology in social change
Liverpool-born Dr Steve Garnett has had one of the most distinguished careers of any European executive in the software industry and has been a member of the executive management team of three software start-ups that have each turned into some of the most successful software companies in history.
Welcomed home as a son of the city, Steve told the graduates to, ‘Find that passion in life, something that you really love doing and don’t settle until you find it.’ He also gave overall advice to be ‘strong but not rude, kind but not weak, humble but not timid’ and ‘proud but not arrogant’. He emphasised that we shouldn’t be ‘impressed by money titles or looks, but by generosity, integrity and wisdom.’
