Academic Board - Call for Nominations
The Chair of the Academic Board, the Interim Vice-Chancellor & Chief Executive, Mark Power, would like to announce a Call for Nominations from eligible staff members within each of four categories.
The categories include:
• 5 vacancies for Directors from the Strategy Delivery Forum
• 4 vacancies for Professors on Professoriate
• 1 vacancy for Non-Teaching staff
• 6 vacancies for Academic staff
Membership is for an initial period of three years commencing on 26 June 2019, with the possibility of a further three year term.
Although elected by staff within your particular category, as a member of Academic Board you will not be representing any particular constituency and, as such, you will be expected to develop a broad knowledge of the University as a whole in line with the concept of ‘One University – a community working together to common student-centred objectives within a clear strategy’.
Those eligible to nominate themselves and to vote in each category will receive an email with full instructions on how to submit a nomination.
Academic Board plays a vital role in the governance of the University to achieve its core aims of:
• Outstanding Student Experience:
• Excellence in Education;
• Impactful Research and Scholarship; and
• Civic and Global Engagement.
In particular, it is responsible to the Board of Governors for overseeing all academic activities, maintaining the academic standard of awards, and enhancing the quality of educational provision at LJMU.
As a member of Academic Board you will help shape the future of LJMU and guide the Board of Governors in its decision-making responsibilities. The Board receives its assurance from the Academic Board that academic governance is effective in order to maintain quality.
