Board of Governors - Non-Teaching Staff - Call for Nominations
Nominations are sought for candidates for one vacancy on the Board of Governors for a Staff Governor (Non-Teaching) for the period 1st October 2019 to 30th September 2022.
The Role and Eligibility:
The Board is particularly keen to encourage engagement at its Board Meetings and Workshops from all Governors. It is important, therefore, that you have the confidence to fully participate and are knowledgeable about the Higher Education Sector in general and in particular regarding governance policies and regulations.
Eligibility for membership of the Board as a Staff Governor is set out in Annex 2 of the “Role of Governor”. Any member of staff considering nomination to the Board must read this document to understand the nature of the role; the commitment required as a Governor; and be capable of meeting all nomination criteria. In accordance with the criteria, People and Organisational Development will be asked to confirm that nominees are not the subject of any internal employment proceedings [e.g. the subject of an investigation under the grievance or disciplinary procedures], are suspended, or are currently on prolonged sick leave. Further guidance can be obtained from the Secretariat by email to secretariat@ljmu.ac.uk
All eligible staff will receive an email inviting them to nominate themselves.
“If you would like to understand how decisions are made at the very top level at LJMU I would recommend putting yourself forward for the role of Staff Governor (Non-Teaching). You will be given the equality of opportunity as a valuable stakeholder developing yourself and gaining a firm grounding on the complex decisions that an organisation of our size has to make taking account of internal and external factors.”
