Costis to advise Public Health England on COVID impacts
Costis Maganaris, of the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences, has been appointed a COVID-19 advisor to Public Health England.
An expert in the biomechanics of ageing, Professor Maganaris will report on the effects of the coronavirus on physical activity in the elderly and their risk of falls.
His appointment follows recognition at national level of his star-climbing safety research, cited in two reports recently published by the Physiological Society, on one Growing Older Better, the other on the Impact of Sport & Exercise Science Education on the UK economy.
The first meeting of the advisors will take place on October 1st and publication has been planned for February 2021.
