Validation and Review training for Chairs and Panel Members

Validation and Periodic Programme Review Chairs and panel members are central to ensuring that new and existing provision meets nationally defined standards, complies with the University's own regulations and provides an appropriate quality of learning opportunities for students.

This session will introduce:

  • The national quality expectations
  • The validation/Periodic Programme Review process
  • The role and function of chairs and panel members 
  • The three new themes identified for 2021-22: de-colonisation of the curriculum, digital literacy and employability 
  • Sources of further information and guidance

This session will be beneficial to academic colleagues, who wish to become a Validation/Periodic Programme Review Chair or panel member, as well as existing Chairs and panel members who would like to refresh their understanding of the role.

Validation and Periodic Programme Review training for Programme Teams

This session will provide an overview of the processes required to propose and validate a brand new programme.  It will also explain how existing programmes are reviewed and re-approved by the University.  

The session will introduce:

  • The processes for strategic planning approval 
  • The validation/periodic programme review process 
  • Documentation requirements
  • Curriculum and assessment design
  • The three new themes identified for 2021-22: de-colonisation of the curriculum, digital literacy and employability

This session will be beneficial to academic colleagues who are involved in developing new programmes for validation, or who have existing programmes that are due to undergo Periodic Programme Review either this year or next.
