Email account improvements

IT Services will soon be migrating staff email accounts to provide us with greater security, increased storage limits and easier accessibility.

The move from on-premise servers to the cloud-based Exchange Online is part of our programme of continuous improvements.

The migration will also bring improved integration with the other applications which makeup the Office 365 suite of software.

When it’s your turn to move, you will receive an email beforehand to let you know when your migration will happen.

You will not need to do anything if you use ITS desktops or laptops. If you use a mobile device (eg a phone or iPad) or your own computer to access your university email you will need to delete your connection and recreate it. These instructions will tell you how to do this.

A simple way of checking if your mailbox has been migrated or not is to check the amount of mailbox storage you have available to you.

You can do this by clicking “file” in the top left of your Outlook screen. If you have 99 GB of storage then your mailbox has migrated to Exchange Online.
