Top five ways to make the most of the LJMU Libraries

As a student at LJMU, you have amazing access to three different Library spaces across campus in the Avril Robarts, Aldham Robarts and Student Life Building.

Here Richard Davis – the Library’s Head of Digital, Collections and Researcher Engagement - lists his Top five ways to make the most out of the LJMU Libraries.

Students now have access to study spaces 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in the Student Life Building, and until late in the evening at our other Library sites.

But although we have a vast collection of thousands of printed books, there’s much more to our Library services than that!

  • Skills@LJMU: The Library runs a series of classes, workshops and drop-ins, from how to use Harvard Referencing in academic essays, to Maths and Statistics Online.
View the Skills@LJMU training calendar here to find out more.

  • Online journals and ebooks: Not only does LJMU have thousands of print books you can borrow for your studies, we also provide access to a vast range of high quality digital resources, including full text e-books and journal articles. You can also read a wide range of newspapers and magazines using the PressReader app.

  • 3D Printing in the Digital Studio: As an LJMU student you get access to our amazing new 3D printers and scanners in the Digital Studios located in the Student Life Building. Come and speak to our IT Coordinators who will help you get started, or email digitalstudio@ljmu.ac.uk.

  • Study spaces with access to computers 24/7 opening hours: All of the Library areas in Aldham Robarts, Avril Robarts and the Student Life Building have study spaces with computer access and free wifi.  The Student Life Building is open 24/7, meaning you can study at whatever time suits you.
Visit our website for full opening hours of our Libraries.

  • Streaming movies: LJMU students have free access to Kanopy, an online streaming service that lets you watch films and documentaries from your phone, tablet or computer, just like Netflix!
Visit Kanopy to view the wide range of films, documentaries and series on offer.

The LJMU Library team is always on hand to help with your studies: make sure to follow us on @LJMULibrary on Twitter, contact us via email or online chat, or come and speak to a member of our team in the Library.
