Calling All Aurorans

Inaugural Meeting of LJMU Aurorans

For the first time, LJMU is bringing together all colleagues who have been a part of Aurora, Advance HE's leadership development initiative for women.

Aurora brings together leadership experts and higher education institutions to take positive action to address the under-representation of women in leadership positions in the sector. Since its launch in 2013 more than 7,000 women from nearly 200 different institutions across the UK and Ireland have participated. LJMU's first cohort was in 2014 and over 90 women have taken part.

While each year's LJMU cohort meet before and during their programme, a wider meeting of Auroran alumni has never taken place. Mel Jones, Researcher Development Advisor, said: 'The idea to invite all Aurorans to meet up came from a previous participant and is driven by a desire to encourage continued dialogue and mutual support among this group of colleagues.  As well as sharing the experience of the Aurora programme, there will be challenges, opportunities and learning that we will also have in common.  This initial meeting will be an opportunity for people to propose ideas and discuss ways in which we can capitalise on our collective development'.

Every LJMU Auroran since LJMU's involvement began has been invited to the inaugural meeting but women who have undertaken the programme elsewhere before joining LJMU are also encouraged to attend.  If you have not received an invitation and would like to come along, please contact Mel: M.Jones1@ljmu.ac.uk

The meeting will take place over Teams on June 15th 10.30-11.30.
