New arrangements for AV support

We have a new system in place to support you in using audio visual and display technology in our teaching spaces.

IT Services has centralised this support (with the exception of Tithebarn Building – details below) with troubleshooting and how-to guides in teaching spaces. These will show you how to operate the controls to set up the sound and display, some simple steps to resolve most issues yourself, plus how to request additional support if you need it.

Should these steps fail to resolve the issue, you will find telephones at the front of every teaching space with a direct connection to a dedicated AV support hotline. From Monday 20 September you will be able to simply pick up the phone and choose from a menu offering:

  • Press 1 for AV tech support
  • Press 2 for IT Services helpdesk
  • Press 3 for security
  • Press 4 for switchboard

You can also ring 0151 231 2713 from any phone to access the same options – or 2713 from any LJMU Mitel handset.

Our technician will assist remotely if they can. If the issue cannot be resolved during the call, they will dispatch the nearest available technician to attend as quickly as possible.

Tithebarn Building

Arrangements for teaching spaces in Tithebarn Building are different, due to the substantial amount of specialised equipment in that building to support health-related studies.

If you have any issues with the equipment in Tithebarn Building, you should continue to contact the Faculty of Health support team on extension 4128.
