Upcoming Professorial Inaugural Lecture Series

LJMU’s inaugural lecture series provides a platform to showcase and celebrate the university’s new professors.

Each lecture represents a significant milestone in an academic’s career and is an opportunity for each professor to present an overview of their academic contributions so far and their future plans, while also introducing their work to a wider audience.

Professor Trung Thanh Nguyen to deliver next lecture

The next series begins this month with Professor Trung Thanh Nguyen from LJMU’s School of Engineering who will explore the theme of nature-inspired optimisation in maritime, transportation and engineering.

The professor of operational research (in transportation) will talk about two of his passions: real-world problem solving and nature. He will discuss how learning from nature can help us solve challenging transportation and engineering problems, with examples from his past experiences in nature-inspired optimisation.

The lecture takes place on Wednesday 23 November in the Peter Jost Upper Lecture Theatre, Byrom Street, from 5pm to 6.30pm. A drinks reception will follow the lecture.

Register for the lecture: Back to nature: nature-inspired optimisation in maritime, transportation and engineering.

Future lectures

More dates for lectures in 2023 will be announced in due course and will form part of an exciting bicentenary celebration programme throughout the year.
