LJMU 'still on top' for NI recruitment
That LJMU is the most popular university in Britain for Northern Irish students is hardly a surprise.
It’s all down to our dedication to them!
We sent more than fifty staff and students to Belfast last week to roll out the red carpet for our applicants, welcoming more than 1,000 visitors to a series of LJMU showcases.
Current Northern Ireland students like Matt Magowan (pictured) talked about their experiences making the journey to Liverpool and how they were enjoying their time at LJMU.
Sharon Roden, of the Outreach Recruitment Team, said: “It was so nice to be able to do a physical event of this type once again and fantastic to see so much interest in LJMU. Feedback has been so positive with applicants and parents feeling reassured about making the move to Liverpool many stating that it has convinced them to make LJMU their first choice.’
The day brought the LJMU community together with representatives from all faculties and professional service teams to deliver course talks and offer insights into finance and accommodation.
And visitors said:
- “I loved meeting the staff and having a chat with them. They were super friendly and made me feel confident in myself and my choice.”
- “The opportunity to see how passionate the staff were about nursing and to see this was much more than a job to them”
- “I enjoyed learning more about the university, accommodation and student life. I also had such pleasure in meeting new people and the freebies were a massive plus :)”
Outreach Manager Peter Dolan said: ‘Events like this really convey what LJMU is all about. All involved on the day genuinely reflected our ethos and values, and did a sterling job communicating what LJMU stands for. The approachable nature of staff and pastoral support provided is particularly important to students travelling from the island of Ireland’.
And to underline our commitment to Northern Ireland, we return on 9th and 10th March as part of a series of pre-application UCAS events across the UK. You can follow where the team are over the coming months via Twitter @ljmuoutreach #LJMUontour
