Are you a School Governor?

The Outreach team at LJMU work with schools and colleges across the country to promote the university to prospective students. We are aware a large number of LJMU staff members hold voluntary positions as school governors and would like to record this activity to see where LJMU is represented and see how we could help in your school. If you are happy to let us know about your position please email outreach@ljmu.ac.uk and confirm the details of your volunteering.

Not yet a governor but thinking about it?

For those staff not involved, we have partnered with Governors for Schools, a national education charity that matches skilled and committed volunteers with schools in need of governors. Governors for Schools are hosting a webinar for LJMU staff on Monday 21st March at 12.30pm to discuss how you and your colleagues can make a difference to your local community by supporting schools as a school governor.

We will be discussing the role, commitment and benefits of becoming a governor and hope you can attend.

Chris Prescott, Schools and Colleges Account Manager in the Outreach team is one of those who became a governor via Governors for Schools. He said: “I have found my role very rewarding. With quite a small time commitment, I have built a lot of skills and experience as part of a governing body and have increased my knowledge of education.

"I would really recommend getting involved, it’s great to utilise your skills in a different way to your day job and I feel more part of my local community having a role at a nearby school.”
