Fault reporting processes for the new academic year

As the new academic year begins and our campus becomes busy once more, staff are reminded to ensure that all faults are reported via the respective Helpdesks.

  • For general room related issues please contact the Estates Helpdesk via 0151 231 5555 or by raising a job via the Estates Helpdesk website
  • For general IT issues, call the IT Helpdesk on 0151 231 5555 – option 1
  • For technical and audio-visual issues in teaching spaces, please check the troubleshooting guide in the lectern first – this covers the most common queries which can usually be resolved in seconds using a few simple steps

Telephones in Classrooms

To support this, all teaching spaces should now have a telephone at the front of the room and lifting the receiver will connect you directly to support. This service is intended for quick relay of issues that may have an immediate impact on your ability to teach. For non-urgent issues please use the normal means.

If the in-room phone is not available for any reason, you can call 2713 from any desktop handset in LJMU, or you can use your own phone to call 0151 231 2713. You’ll be through to the same hotline, but please let the operator know when you call if you couldn’t use the in-room phone.

Listen to the menu and select the correct option, depending on the issue you are experiencing:

  • IT & Audio-Visual Facilities
  • Estates
  • Security

During business hours you’ll get straight through to the relevant team for assistance, and they will take it from there. Out of business hours, your call will go through to the LJMU Security team who will make sure the issue is logged and action is taken.

Process

Behind the scenes, processes are in place to make sure the right people are involved to resolve issues as quickly as possible.

If the issue cannot be resolved in time for the next scheduled event, alternative arrangements will be made and those involved will be notified.
