Staff Governor vacancy

The Secretariat is now seeking expressions of interest from eligible candidates to represent Professional Services as a Staff Governor member of the Board of Governors.

This position is held for a period of three years and the Secretariat is looking forward to hearing from interested candidates from across the LJMU community.

If you are interested in becoming a member, then please email your expression of interest to the Secretariat by 5pm on Friday 10 February 2023.

For an informal discussion about the expected level of commitment, the role and its responsibilities please email Maria Burquest, University Secretary, or Michael Thompson, Clerk to the Board of Governors.

Ensuring our Board of Governors is inclusive

The Secretariat is particularly keen to ensure that the Board of Governors is inclusive and representative of the entire LJMU community and would encourage expressions of interest from underrepresented groups including people with a disability, from an ethnic minority background, or women.

Responsibilities of the Board of Governors

The Board of Governors is collectively responsible for overseeing the institution’s activities, determining its future direction, and fostering an environment in which the university’s mission is achieved and the potential of all learners is maximised.

All persons appointed to the board are expected to be committed to the institution’s vision and values and to the success of the individuals and communities we serve.

The successful candidate will observe the highest standard of corporate governance in exercising their responsibilities.

Process for filling the vacancy

If more than one expression of interest is received, then an election will be called with further information to follow regarding that process and next steps.
