A message to our students and staff affected by world events

We understand that world events over the last week will be deeply concerning and upsetting for many of you and our thoughts are with everyone affected. We want to remind you that support is available across the university and externally, for anyone affected by global conflicts, natural disasters and humanitarian crises.

If you are a student and have a concern or need support, please talk to your tutors, to staff in Student Advice and Wellbeing, including the Chaplaincy, or to JMSU.

If you are a member of staff, then please contact HR or your line manager. There is a range of support available dependant on your individual needs.

Report + Support

As a university, we operate with a respect always approach and we will not tolerate any behaviour inconsistent with our values.  Mutual respect, understanding and tolerance are vitally important during times of distress and as part of our commitment to creating a safe environment, we encourage you to report any form of racism, harassment or intimidation, to the university, through our Report and Support tool – this is a confidential mechanism for you to raise any concerns you have.

Student support

Our Student Advice and Wellbeing team is always here to offer support.

If you wish to see someone face-to-face, you can visit our drop-in service from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, on the ground floor of the Student Life Building. You can also book an appointment or email the team.

The Chaplaincy team can also be contacted and John Moores Students’ Union (JMSU) also offers a range of support. You can book an appointment via the JMSU website.
