Can you support clearing this August?

Support the LJMU clearing hub

It's that time of year again and the University is seeking staff to help with operating 100 phone lines at our clearing hub on Thursday 17 August 2023. No previous experience is required and full training will be given.

This year the clearing hub will be located in the John Foster Building, Mount Pleasant campus.

The busiest times of clearing are 8am to 4pm, although support is appreciated throughout the day, no matter how many hours you are able to commit to.

Any member of staff from our LJMU community can take part in clearing and any support you are able to provide is greatly appreciated. Breakfast, lunch and refreshments will also be provided.

What will my role be?

During clearing, thousands of undecided students shop around for their university choices. Clearing is an exciting opportunity for many to dig deeper and find their ideal course and institution.

Operators will be 'first responders' and will be overseen by supervisors, who will be responsible for making each decision. Alongside this, academic staff will be available to talk in greater depth about individual courses. An additional confirmation line will be set up to deal with enquiries from existing applicants.

Available to support?

If you are available to support as a clearing operator, professional services staff should let us know by completing our form

Full operator training will be given at an online session, 10 to 11am on Tuesday 15 August 2023.
