Students at the Heart Conference 2023: Celebrating 200 years of LJMU

The Students at the Heart Conference kicked off this Wednesday 7 June for a two-day event that brings together Teaching and Learning, Professional Services and students into one combined event.

Bicentenary celebration room

As part of the SATH conference, LJMU organised a special Bicentenary celebration room to highlight 200 years of LJMU and celebrate our history.

The immersive room invited staff and students to try on graduation gowns, be photographed as part of our LJMU legends montage, try a Bicentenary cupcake made by Born to Bake LJMU alumni, Mike Kerr, and take in the exhibitions from the Humans of LJMU campaign.

LJMU Library Archives and Special Collections Team also exhibited in the room with old recipe cards, photographs and cut out boards for staff and students to engage with.

Attendees were also asked to sign our ‘years at LJMU’ montage for how long they’ve been studying/working at the university with many long serving staff members at the university for 37, 38.5 and 39 years!

The Bicentenary celebration room exhibition will run for two days over the Students at the Heart Conference with more pop up Bicentenary celebrations planned throughout the year.
