Staff car parking update August 2023

Following a recent review of LJMU staff car parking provision, the university will continue to subsidise staff car parking until 31 August 2024.

This means staff can continue to park in the current spaces, at the same cost (£44 per month), through a monthly scheme that will be paid directly out of your salary, administered by the LJMU Campus Services Team.

What to do if you currently have a permit?

If you currently hold a permit, you don’t need to do anything. Your new permit will be sent out in the next two weeks and will only be valid for the car park requested as indicated on the permit.

What if you want to park in Fort Knox or the Liverpool City Council car parks daily without purchasing a permit through LJMU?

To park in Fort Knox daily you can continue to pay £3 directly in cash on the day at Fort Knox. Please note that the daily parking in Fort Knox is also open to the public and will be available on a first come, first served basis. Only staff with monthly passes are guaranteed parking at Fort Knox.

To park at the Liverpool City Council Mount Pleasant car park daily, you can take a ticket at the entrance barriers and pay the relevant fees via the onsite pay stations. Fraser Street car park is also pay and display. Both operate on a first come, first served basis.

Can I apply for a monthly permit if I don’t already have one?

If you don’t currently subscribe to a permit but would like to apply and be placed on a waiting list, please email staffcarparking@ljmu.ac.uk

Please note that priority will be given to staff who wish to declare confidentially through the Diversity and Inclusion Team any personal circumstances e.g. caring responsibilities or that they cannot work in a hybrid way due to their role.

If you have any further questions, please contact the Security Team at parking@ljmu.ac.uk
