Staff update Freshers 2023 launch

Today sees the launch of LJMU and JMSU’s Freshers programme for 2023, providing both new and returning students with information on events and activities across the Freshers period as well as important information as they begin or resume their university journeys.

JMSU’s Fresher’s Mini Site is now live, detailing our extensive programme of events and welcome activities throughout the month of September - designed to help new students make friends, settle in, learn more about JMSU and LJMU, and enjoy a smooth and fun start to university life. The site also includes advice, tips and important information students may need to enjoy the best possible university experience.

Although aimed at Freshers, events are open to all students, regardless of year of study. The main Freshers period will take place across two weeks, from Monday 18 to Friday 29 September 2023, with some additional events scheduled from Saturday 2 September for those ‘coming early.’

A series of themed ‘Freshers Focus’ events will take place across key campuses in Freshers week one (academic week 0), culminating in JMSU’s flagship event, Freshers Fair, at the Exhibition Centre Liverpool on Friday 22 September.

Freshers week two (academic week 1) will include a range of excursions, inclusive activities and social events designed to help students have fun, get to know their new city, and find their ‘squad’.

For those arriving or returning before the official start of the Freshers period, our ‘Coming Early’ programme will run from Saturday 2 September to Friday 15 September, providing nursing, midwifery, international, and any other students starting in early September with additional opportunities to socialise and settle in.

Staff are encouraged to direct new and returning students to the mini site for more information on Freshers and JMSU – tickets are available now for the ‘Coming Early’ events, with tickets for the remaining Freshers programme to follow on Monday 4 September.
